Kids’ Music Adventure is the free, interactive kids’ portion of Bohemian Nights at NewWestFest, located in the Library Park Courtyard.
At Kids’ Music Adventure, kids of all ages can interact with real instruments, listen to live music performances, make their own instruments, and participate in a variety of other music workshops!
Kids’ Music Adventure is open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday of the festival.
Foundation Music School is a nonprofit community school for the arts committed to providing high-quality arts opportunities that nurture the love of music. During the festival, this workshop will lead children in a drum circle and music-making activities with instruments and technology.
Little Kids Rock is a nationally-acclaimed nonprofit organization dedicated to transforming children’s lives by expanding music education. During the festival, they will provide opportunities for children of all ages to play and explore modern band instruments. Head over to the Little Kids Rock workshop to find your inner music maker while trying out drums, bass, keyboard and guitar.
The Little Shop of Physics is a travelling science program dedicated to sharing the wonder of science through creative, hands-on presentations. At the “Sounds Like Science” station, children will hear music inside their head, play non-traditional musical instruments and explore the science of sound.
The Boys & Girls Club of Larimer County will encourage both kids and adults to sing their hearts out during karaoke. Join the “Sing Your Heart Out” workshop to discover how fun and easy it is to sing beautiful melodies together. Come and belt out some of your favorite songs with us!
The Fort Collins Museum of Discovery is known for providing fun, interactive programs for children of all ages. Join the Museum of Discovery at Kids’ Music Adventure to engage in fun, hands-on activities for children. Children will create take-home shakers and duct tape guitar straps, as well as participate in the build-a-horn exhibit and more.
The Instrument Petting Zoo provides children the unique opportunity to discover their musical calling and try out a variety of instruments. Children will experiment with instruments from the brass, woodwind, string and percussion families. Local volunteers help children as they explore making music with each instrument.
Stop by the Make Your Own Instrument workshop at Kids’ Music Adventure to create a souvenir. Children will make and decorate one-of-a-kind tambourines and rainsticks to continue their musical experience long after the festival is over.
Join CSU Music Therapy students as they play guitar and sing some favorite kids’ songs. This workshop is geared toward toddlers and preschoolers. Bring your family down to dance, click sticks, play shakers, and sing together – no musical talent required!
The second festival area specifically for kids is Kids’ World, produced by the Downtown Fort Collins Business Association. This area (located at the SW corner of Library Park) includes a carnival, mechanical rides, games and more. Don’t miss out on the fun at the Kids’ World Stage (located at the intersection of Olive and Mathews St.); watch interactive acts ranging from kids puppeteers to various dance groups. To ensure safety, event security will be monitoring the Kids’ Music Adventure area and all volunteers working in the area will have participated in a required background check. No alcohol or smoking is allowed within the Kids’ Music Adventure area.
