James Moors and Kort McCumber met in 2005 at the Rocky Mountain Folks Festival Song School. After playing just one song together, the two artists decided to start performing as a duo.
Their musical chemistry was clear to others around them. When they started performing, people would come up after the show and say, "I want the CD of what I just heard."
Early on, Moors & McCumber were playing in bars and other noisy places where people paid little attention to the music. They felt that wasn't what they wanted, so they decided to quit playing at bars and focus on venues where it's all about the music. This helped them develop as artists and performers.
Both performers sing lead and harmony and play a variety of instruments, including guitar, ukulele, mandolin, bouzouki, harmonica and many more.
Moors and McCumber each have their own strengths, as well. Moors is a talented lyricist, melody writer and lead singer. McCumber is skilled at singing harmony and adding all the bells and whistles to the songs through arrangement and instrumentation.
As Grammy award-winning producer Lloyd Maines said, "These guys should be playing every major festival in the country. They bring it all to the stage and deliver in a big way."
