The Tavelli Tiger Stripes is an audition-only Little Kids Rock Modern Band comprised of students from three of Tavelli Elementary School’s after-school Modern Bands. They’ve had less than 30 hours of instruction on their instruments, and practice together once a week for 30 minutes. This summer, The Tavelli Tiger Stripes performed at Realities for Children’s “Reality Ride & Rally,” opened for Union Gray at the CSU Lagoon Concert Series and participated in a performance clinic at Little Kids Rock’s 5th Annual Modern Band Rockfest. Little Kids Rock is a national organization that trains public school teachers and donates all the instruments, curricular resources and support needed to ensure that kids receive the right to rock! What makes Little Kids Rock different is that they do more than just donate instruments like guitars, drums and keyboards; the organization builds lasting music programs that focus on teaching kids to perform, improvise and compose the popular music genres that they already know and love, like rock, pop, blues, hip-hop, country, reggae and R&B. Thanks to Bohemian Foundation, Fort Collins has over 6,500 students, 32 schools and 52 teachers engaged with Little Kids Rock, including the 6 Little Kids Rock teachers and 4 after-school bands at Tavelli Elementary School.
