Since humble beginnings in 2013, The Burroughs have been playing and dancing their way into the hearts of dedicated fans throughout Northern Colorado and beyond. The band's trademark "sweaty soul music" features a polished four-piece horn section, a powerhouse rhythm section and charismatic and multi-talented front man Johnny Burroughs.
The Burroughs include Sean Hagemeister on guitar, Tom Amend on keyboard and organ, Brian Claxton on bass, Mary Claxton on drums, Alec Bell on trumpet, Briana Harris and Hayden Farr on saxophones, Jeremy Fallis on trombone and Johnny Burroughs on lead vocals. The band's nine members create a sound that invokes the spirit of soul heroes such as Otis Redding, Ray Charles and Etta James.
Although The Burroughs got their start covering classic music from some of their favorite artists, the band truly shines on their collection of catchy and dance-able originals. In 2014, the group won the Best Band award from The Best of Greeley Magazine. Their first full-length album "Sweaty Greeley Soul" was recorded live at the Moxi Theater in Greeley, Colorado, in May 2015. In April 2016, they released two new studio singles "You Are My Joy" and "1968" recorded at Mighty Fine Productions in Denver engineered by Colin Bricker and produced by drummer and mentor Jim White.
The Burroughs have captured hearts all over Colorado with their passionate, energetic and joyful live shows. They are known for high-energy, crowd-friendly live shows that are guaranteed to get the audience moving.
The band performed at FoCoMX, Bohemian Nights at NewWestFest, Tour de Fat, FORToberfest, and headlined the Greeley Block Party. They opened for national touring acts including the Steve Miller Band and performed at historic Front Range venues including The Aggie in Fort Collins, the Boulder Theater and The High Dive in Denver. All members of the group proudly call Greeley, Colorado, home.
