The Delta Sonics take Chicago Blues and season it with swing, delta, Nâawlins, R&B and some early rock 'n' roll.
Al Chesis supplies vocals and foot-stomping showmanship, but it's his harmonica playing that really grabs you. He has been a Hohner endorser since 1992. Bob Pellegrino supplies a dazzling, sliding guitar and a voice as smooth as silk. Pellegrino was the Colorado Blues Society's best slide guitar player in 2013 and 2014. With over sixty years of R&B between them, John Butler plays bass and Willie Panker from New Orleans plays the drums that "drive the bus." The rhythm section also provides vocals.
The Delta Sonics have been the mile-high "go-to" band for touring Blues acts for nearly 15 years. The band has backed national blues acts like Big Bill Morganfield, Steadyrollin' Bob Margolin, Ronnie Baker Brooks, Lurie Bell, the late Pinetop Perkins, and the late Bo Diddley. The Delta Sonics were also picked to open for BB King in 2012 and 2014.
The Delta Sonics won Westword's Best Blues Band award the past five years (2011–2015) and earned seven nominations. The band made the semi-finals in the International Blues Challenge in Memphis, Tennessee, in 2012. They have played across the U.S. in many citites, including Kansas City, Missouri, St. Louis, Missouri, and New Orleans, Louisiana.
