Poet's Row was born in 2011 after founding members Mickey Bakas and Emily Hobbs met while living in Denver's historic neighborhood of their namesake. The two began composing folk songs with harmony-driven melodies and haven't looked back since. Although the band's arrangements have expanded and transformed over the years, the now married founding members continue to create haunting, indie-folk sounds.
Poet's Row released a dual EP in June of 2016, "The Armadillo" and "The Artichoke." The releases have allowed the band to showcase two somewhat contrasting sides of the project – the bare-bones acoustic arrangements of the core duo and the more elaborate soundscapes created by Poet's Row's full lineup. Both recorded locally in Denver, the EPs together provide a full spectrum experience of the two sides of the band.
